“Last Call” with Artist Collective, “Frise”

From October 2 – 12 the FRISE project, “Last Call Hamburg” was a traveling exchange co-organized with the artist/organizers of Le Petit Versailles; a response to “Triple Threat”, the visit from Petit Versailles to Frise’s home base in Hamburg. This was a continuation of the exchange beginning with the Abc No Rio 7 Days:10 Years exhibition at Hamburg Kunstlerhaus, of which Frise is the current incarnation. The artists representing Frise were Torsten Bruch, Jörg Hochapfel, Sabine Mohr, Christoph Rothmeier, Llaura Sünner, and Joern Zehe, with Le Petit Versailles serving as “ home base” for installations, music and screenings. A satellite exhibition showing the founding, development, and struggle of Kunstlerhause, and the eventual reconstitution of Frise, took place at Goethe Institut’s Wyoming Building. The artists exchange of the history and present state of maintaining public social spaces is an ongoing international dialogue with artist run organizations like ABC No Rio through the House Magic series.
