Look Back & Forward
2011 <<>> 2012

Although we were not immune to the year’s turbulence our D.I.Y. ingenuity, our grit, and our wits – the guiding principals of our 30 year aesthetic – got us though another exciting year.

Thanks to you!

From Le Petit Versailles garden cultural events, facilitating MIXploritorium at La Mama Galleria, donating lumber to Materials for the Arts, to fiscal sponsorship for Ken Jacobs film projects, Allied continues to support artists in a myriad of ways from ? to $$$.

In September Allied was featured as part of MARKET for the
Creative Time exhibition Living As Form.

Le Petit Versailles had an amazing season of planting and
performance. Free public programs flourished with new
curatorial teams that help facilitate selection & management
of projects. Check out the LPVTV blog for all 2011 events.
Special highlights were Fame & Shame on the Lower East
Side
, a month of queer performance, music, film and dance
curated by the Department of Transformation.

Alexis Pace exhibition “Dis-Embodied/Re-Embodied “ was
reviewed by Garden Bytes from the Big Apple.

Le Petit Versailles was featured in The New York Observer
page 108.

Bulbs continued to bloom thanks to the Daffodil Project, a
living memorial to September 11th, 2001 in cooperation with
the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and
New Yorkers for Parks. Green Guerillas annual Fall Plant
Giveaway delivered us a new kousa dogwood tree.
Special thanks to Hannah Riseley-White.

Our continued appreciation and kudos to all LPV volunteers both curatorial, administrative and gardeners – Peter Cramer, Jack Waters, Mark Harada, Jill London, Noe Kidder, Devon Gallegos, Bizzy Barefoot, Carlo Maria Ampil, Christopher Pouppirt and James Carroll and many unsung helping hands.

2011 begins Le Petit Versailles first winter season.
The Winter Pleasure Dome: le dôme de plaisir d’hiver,
an installation by sculptor John Pavlou,
and reading series curated by Golda Solomon.

First Thursday of every month at 7pm.
    December – March

An important archival survey of works by
Gordon Stokes Kurtti initiated by board member
Carl George and our ongoing archiving of the ABC No Rio
Collection
have been generously supported by
Mary Jo and Ted Shen.
A 2012 exhibition of Gordon’s art is proposed for La Mama Galleria for which Kembra Pfahler of the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black will create a unique edition to benefit Allied’s ongoing archiving efforts.

Stay tuned!
